Michaela Honcova was born in Bratislava in December 1992. She is a Slovak tennis player, well known on the ITF international women’s circuit for the many years she spent there in both singles and doubles competitions and furthermore in national team competitions, where she achieved many national championships titles. Michaela is climbing the WTA singles ranking, and she is close again to her best ranking at world’s no. 235. She is also a strong tennis players in doubles. In her long career, despite the young age, Honcova has in her résumé 4 ITF singles titles (and 6 more singles finals) and 9 ITF doubles titles (and 10 finals more, including the prestigious $50.000 ITF of Zhengzhou).
The first time on a tennis court for Honcova happened when she was 7 years old. Among the many remarkable results, the national Slovakian Championships needs to be remembered, given that in two of these occasions she won both a singles and a doubles titles: in 2009 she was awarded with doubles’ trophy in under-18 category, while in 2010, in same category, she won the singles’ trophy. At national level, she also won for 4 straight years the national Team Championships with the Slovan Bratislava team, from 2010 to 2013.
Michaela’s bright smile and crystal blue eyes are well known and feared by many opponents who, during her career, have been into the WTA top 100 tennis players or are currently part of it, and who have been defeated by Honcova’s skills and talent. So far, she has gained wins over Krystina Pliskova, Viktorija Golubic, Danka Kovinic and Cagla Buyukakcay, Silvia Soler-Espinosa, Teliana Pereira, but even more remarkably over Mona Barthel, Patty Schnyder, Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, Daria Gavrilova, Timea Bacsinszky or Johanna Konta. Therefore, she showed more than once the very high level she can reach on tennis court and that with her passion, her fighting spirit and her precious skills nothing is precluded to her.
